Development of Google Sites Learning Media of Local History To Increase Students Motivation

Abstrak

The use of digital technology in history education requires learning media that are accessible, interactive, and relevant to students’ learning needs. This study aimed to develop a Google Sites–based learning medium containing local history material on the implementation of the Agrarian Law in Jember from 1870 to 1930 and to examine differences in students’ learning motivation before and after its use. The study employed research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE model. Data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively, including paired-samples t tests. The product was validated by subject-matter, media/design, and language experts and revised based on their recommendations. Validation scores were 94% for subject matter, 80% for media/design, and 90% for language. An educator user assessment yielded 78%. In the small-group trial (n = 10), the mean motivation score increased from 37.40 to 88.20, t(9) = -65.83, p < .001. In the large-group trial (n = 35), it increased from 46.37 to 76.26, t(34) = -19.19, p < .001. The findings indicate that the developed medium was feasible for use and was associated with higher student motivation scores after implementation.
